Gafan’s clockwork soldiers are mechanical marvels. They stand at just over 3 and a half feet and are geared to strictly obey commands. While they aren’t considered to be exceptional combatants, their usefulness as guards, decoys, and aides is unparalleled. City guilds hate the devices, and taverns overflow with stories of members attempting to vandalize them.
Be warned, neglect and lack of maintenance can result in bizarre (and sometimes deadly) behaviors if gears and cogs begin to slip erratically.
Mechanic
As an action, you can wind the clockwork soldier. Winding it will immediately bring it to life. As a bonus action, you can order it to follow one of the following commands: Guard, Attack, Follow. It will execute the orders until it receives a new order or until eight hours elapse. After 8 hours, the clockwork soldier stops functioning and must be wound again to continue taking orders.
Attack – Select a target. The clockwork soldiers will attack a target with its sword until it is either incapacitated or destroyed. The clockwork soldiers must be given a new command to change its target.
Guard – Designate an area up to 60ft x 60ft for the clockwork soldiers to patrol. If an intruder enters the space, it will immediately warn the person that gave the guard command.
Follow – Select a target. The clockwork soldier will do everything within its power to follow the target. If it loses the target, it will return to the location where it was given the Follow command.
