This twisted branch may not look like much, but it hales from ancient origins. Yes, this offshoot is a graft from the first tree—the Mother Tree.
Some of the Old Watchers still carry a Branch of the Mother Tree. A single branch can be wielded to bear down powerful restorative magic and heal miles of devastated plantlife. Eventually, it must be planted; otherwise, it will shrivel and die.
Mechanics
This staff has 5 charges. While holding it, you can use an action to expend up to three of its charges to cast one of the following spells (save DC 17): Plant Growth (3 charges), Spike Growth (2 charges), or Entanglement (1 charge).
The staff regains 1d4 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, it crumbles into ashes and is destroyed.
If this Branch of the Mother Tree is buried up to a foot in soil and left undisturbed for a week, it will sprout into a tree that will grow to the size of a two-story building in a year. All plants within a three-mile radius centered on the tree become enriched. The plants yield twice the average amount of food when harvested.
