The idea of banning magic would seem absurd to the people of Vasteel. Magic is a daily part of their lives. In the eastern wasteland, however, most forms of magic are outlawed by the hawkish Dazmarian Priests. They believe their god Dazmar is the only pure form of power.
There is an order within the Dazmarian Priesthood known as the Magic Eaters. They are assigned to destroy arcane artifacts and lay to rest anyone that would blaspheme Dazmar’s name by using false powers. Magical travelers are strongly encouraged to stay clear of the Eastern Waste.
The wand has 5 charges, you can spend any number of charges to create the following effects. The wand regains 1d6 charges every day at dawn.
Dispel Magic (2 Charges)
Choose one creature, object, or magical effect within 120 feet. Any spell of 3rd level or lower on the target ends. For each spell of 4th level or higher on the target, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 8 + the spell’s level. On a successful check, the spell ends.
Counterspell (2 Charges)
As a reaction, when you see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell, you may attempt to interrupt it in the process of casting the spell. If the creature is casting a spell of 3rd level or lower, its spell fails and has no effect. If it is casting a spell of 4th level or higher, make an ability check using your spellcasting ability. The DC equals 8 + the spell’s level. On a success, the creature’s spell fails and has no effect.
Cloud of Antimagic (3 Charges)
Choose a point within 120 feet. A thin haze grows from that location to cover a 30-foot-radius Sphere. Every creature, object, and magical effect within the Sphere is under the effect of the Antimagic Field spell. Spells can’t be cast, summoned creatures disappear, and Magic Items become mundane. The Sphere does not move. After 1 hour, the haze dissipates, and the spell effects end.
Cursed: After attuning to this wand, you become cursed. Dark spidery veins crawl up your arm from the hand you used to hold the magical object while you attuned to it. While cursed, your spellcasting ability and spell attack rolls decrease by 1. The curse can be lifted by the Remove Curse spell cast at 5th level.
