Woven decorative dream webs are a common novelty among the more superstitious population of Vasteel. These little trinkets are said to ward off bad dreams, but anyone that claims this will be trying to sell you one. No, real Dream Weavings don’t ward off bad dreams, they consume them.
For over a century, the Clans in the Eastern Isles have been making magical weavings from the silken fibers of the Dormiens Aranea, a small spider that consumes mental energy. The arachnids feed off of thoughts by catching them in a web that is highly sensitive to cerebral vibrations.
The most experienced Dream Weavers can craft extraordinary amulets and charms that make the knick knacks you find in the Markets District look like infant toys.
Mechanics
The Dream Weaver Amulet holds 5 charges. After attuning to the amulet, you can expend one or more of its charges to produce the effects listed below. The amulet regains 1 charge for every hour you sleep (up to 5). While it recovers charges, you do not dream.
Peace Maker (1 Charge) – You can cast the Sleep spell. Expending additional charges allows you to cast the spell at a higher level. Each additional charge increases the spell level by one.
Dream Catcher (2 Charges) – You can cast the Detect Thoughts spell on a sleeping creature. The spell can target creatures that have low intelligence, don’t speak a language or don’t speak your language. The Dream Weaver Amulet interprets their thoughts into pictures and emotions you can understand. If the creature detects that you are probing their mind, it wakes up.
Dream Weaver (2 Charges) – You can cast the Suggestion Spell on a sleeping creature. The spell can target creatures that have low intelligence, don’t speak a language or don’t speak your language. The Dream Weaver Amulet translates your suggestion into thoughts that the creature will understand. When the creature wakes up, they follow your suggestion.
